Al-Iraqia Shipping Services & Oil Trading (AISSOT) will shortly commence bunkering operations at Iraqi ports, mainly at Basra, Khor Al-Zubair and Umm Qasr.
AISSOT is a joint-venture between Iraqi Oil Tankers Company (IOTC) & Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company (AMPTC) to handle trading of petroleum products, ship chartering, oil terminals, various marine services, and bunkering.
Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company (AMPTC) is owned by member countries of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), while IOTC is an Iraq government-owned company which owns and manages tankers for transportation of refined petroleum products.
AISSOT is based in Dubai and it was only in September 2017 that it completed the first-ever bunker supply in Iraqi waters, when the 280,000 dwt VLCC New Discovery loaded crude oil from Basrah Oil Terminal in Iraq on its way to Vadinar Port, India.
The company then chartered in a Capital Maritime and Trading VLCC. According to VesselsValue, AISSOT has bareboat chartered-in four VLCCs from the group controlled by Greek celebrity shipowner Evangelos Marinakis.
