The Iraqi Federation of Industries (IUI) on Wednesday stressed the lack of value of the local product unless there is real support from the government, calling for border control.
The head of the union Ali Sobeih said in an interview with "Economy News" that the local national product hit the deficit after 2003 and continues to suffer despite the shy steps of the government, and the increase deficit when the start of the importer enters the country without an account or a watchdog.
"The Ministry of Industry and Minerals is trying to help the local producer and make it compete with the importer, although it is a step that came late but it is better than never comes," he said, noting that the local product needs government support rather than individual ministries or departments.
"The support of the government increases the value of the local product," Sobeih said, adding that "the support is in actual steps, not slogans and speeches, as well as the start of border control, especially with regard to the entry of goods and goods that harm the local product, but make it incapable of mobility and may die for ever."
On Tuesday, an exhibition was held in Iraq at the Baghdad International Fair with the participation of about 33 local companies.
