The head of the General Grain Trade Company, Naeem al-Makusi, said on Thursday that his country has enough wheat and rice until the end of 2019.
Local purchases of wheat could reach four million tons by the end of the season in August and imports since the beginning of the year amounted to 400 thousand tons, which will suffice consumption until the end of the year, he said.
But he told Reuters that global purchases would continue to feed reserves.
He added that the company has bought 700 thousand tons of rice since the beginning of this year.
