The governor of the town of Mariwan in the province of Kurdistan, Mohammad Shafi'i, on Wednesday, the closure of the border port of Bashmak in this town next Friday in conjunction with the Eid al-Fitr at the request of Iraqi officials in the region.
"The holiday of Eid al-Fitr in Iraq will last for three days, but the closure of the border port of Bashmak on this occasion will last for only one day," the official IRNA news agency reported in an e-mail.
He added that "this decision came at the request of officials in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and therefore will stop the export and import for a period of 24 hours only."
The border port of Bashmak in the Iranian town of Mariwan is one of the most important land border crossings of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adjacent to the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
