The Iranian consul in Najaf Hamid Makarem Shirazi said that the volume of trade exchange with Iraq reached 10 billion dollars at all levels.
"The volume of trade is increasing daily, and we hope that the Iraqi people will support us in the economic war imposed on us," Shirazi told a news conference.
The Iranian consul thanked all the delegations that come to the consulate building in Najaf daily from the resistance factions, parties, tribal sheikhs and from different groups in particular or in general to express their strong condemnation of what happened in Basra.
"The committee of representatives of the Fatah alliance in Najaf came to express its condemnation of the attack on the Iranian consulate in Basra," said Badr al-Saadawi, an official of Badr Organization's office in Najaf.
"This is an attack on a diplomatic institution that international law has been forbidden to violate or attack unless it violates international laws," he said.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has provided assistance to the Iraqi people during the era of the terrorist and even during the opposition days," al-Saadawi said.
