(IRAN) - Iran's ambassador to Baghdad, Erj Musjedi, stressed on Wednesday the need to strengthen cooperation between the private sectors of Iran and Iraq.
The official Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Masjedi as saying during a meeting with directors of chambers of commerce and heads of Iraqi investment institutions, the private sector has a very influential role in organizing the process of providing and distributing goods in the Iraqi market.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, the Iraqi Investment Organization, the Iraqi-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce, the Investment Authority of Baghdad Governorate and members of the administrative councils working in the Chambers of Commerce of the two countries.
During his speech, Masjedi described the meeting as "a significant impact on the follow-up of the major independent issues aimed at reviving the Iraqi economy, rebuilding the country and employing its enormous human resources and sources of natural wealth."
"Iran's readiness to provide Iraq with the best goods needed by the Iraqi market," the Iranian ambassador said.
"Iran is ready to cooperate with Iraq, especially in the private sector.
During the meeting, Jaafar al-Hamdani, chairman of the Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, and Sami al-Araji, head of the Iraqi Investment Organization, made a speech in which they stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries and the need for direct presence of Iranian companies inside Iraq.
For his part, the Iranian Trade Attaché to Iraq, Nasser Bahzad, announced "the implementation of two joint commercial projects between Iran and Iraq, the first of which is the activation of a joint executive action plan contained in the trade sector and the second establishment of the business unit members of Iraqi Iraqis supported by the Chamber of Commerce of this country."
