Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said the government has so far bought 600,000 tonnes of wheat from local farmers this year.
Local media quoted Abdul Mahdi as telling reporters at his weekly press conference that the government had paid about 200 billion Iraqi dinars ($ 160 million) to farmers from their foresight.
