The Minister of Construction and Housing, Beneq Rikani, announced on Sunday the need for Iraq to 3 million housing units as a result of the population increase in the country, revealing the plan of the ministry to distribute free land to people with disabilities and social care.
"The census of one family is estimated at five, and if we divide the number of Iraqi souls on the existing housing units, the need for a large number of units exceeds three million units," Rikani told a joint conference with Transport Minister Abdullah Loibi.
He added that the main challenges facing the ministry are the creation of residential land in all governorates as well as the growing population growth and lack of land distribution in the past periods and the weakness of the construction, which led to the construction of housing units in an irregular manner distorted the face of the city.
The Minister of Construction and Housing said that the plan of the ministry aims to create large areas and planning properly and the distribution of this land to its beneficiaries and financing what can be financed for the purpose of construction.
He added that those covered by the social protection network, social welfare and people with disability income will receive free plots of land, while the middle class will receive land for services only, while the rich will receive land with larger areas and a higher price than those of previous categories.economy-news.net/content.php?id=15812
