The conference of Invest in Iraq, organized by Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), will kick off Tuesday morning as part of the Kuwait International Conference on Iraq Reconstruction.
The opening session of the conference will discuss the environment for private sector participation in the reconstruction of Iraq, with the participation of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ali al-Ghanim, head of the Iraqi National Investment Commission Sami al-Araji and Iraqi Planning Minister Salman al-Jumaili.
The conference will discuss the investment environment in Iraq, the reform program and the means of reconstruction as well as reviewing the private sector opportunities through presenting successful investment experiences, the main investment opportunities in Iraq and the role of the International Finance Corporation in this regard.
The conference will also look at key investment sectors in Iraq in the fields of oil and gas, transport, industries, real estate, economic zones, energy, agriculture, health and others.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali al-Aalak, in a discussion session entitled (Financing reconstruction) overview of the framework of the Iraqi economy, especially on the banking sector and ways to support the private sector for achieving a flexible peace.
The conference will also discuss the forms of domestic and foreign financing, public-private partnership, IFC's Iraq financing projects, as well as investment guarantees.
The conference devoted a panel discussion entitled "One Window: Supporting Investors in Iraq," in which US Secretary of State Rex Tilerson, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Iraqi National Investment Commission Chairman Sami al-Araji participated.
