President of the Republic Fuad Masoum met on Sunday with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, in the presence of Vice President Osama Najafi and Minister of Defense Irfan al-Hayali.
"During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic and American summit in Riyadh, it discussed the political and security situation in the region and the challenges facing the imposition of security and stability there," said an Iraqi presidential statement.
President Masoum stressed the importance of bilateral relations between Egypt and Iraq in all fields, especially in the oil and gas sectors, stressing the need to expand trade exchange between the two countries. He also extended an official invitation to President al-Sisi to visit Iraq.
He called for the need for direct coordination between experts and security officials and those involved in terrorism to exchange information, which works to accelerate the elimination of terrorism in both countries and the region.
The President of Egypt also appreciated Egypt's role in the various issues of concern to the region, expressing the importance of the relationship between the two brotherly countries and the necessity of joint action to develop them in areas of interest to both countries.
For his part, President al-Sisi congratulated the victories achieved by the Iraqi forces on the organization and reiterated his country's support for Iraq in the war against terrorism, expressing Egypt's full readiness to support Iraq in the face of terrorist organizations.
