(Petra) - The Board of Directors of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (OCCI) on Wednesday discussed with the Chairman of the Anbar Chamber of Commerce Abdul Samad Sabti and the accompanying delegation ways to enhance the trade and investment relations between the two countries.
The head of the chamber, Issa Haider Murad, said that the volume of Jordanian exports to Iraq began to increase especially after the re-opening of the border crossing of Trebil and the need to exploit it to promote trade between the two countries. The meeting, which was held at the Chamber's headquarters, was attended by CEO of Aqaba Container Port Company Stephen Yogalingham, And a member of the Board of Directors Rashad Toukan, that a delegation from the private sector will visit Iraq to build new economic partnerships between the two countries.
He called on the Iraqi side to accelerate the activation of the list of Jordanian products that were excluded from customs duties to enable Jordanian products to enter the Iraqi market.
He explained that Jordan has a quick re-export of products passing through its territory by transit to Iraq, where the process of re-export more than seven days, stressing that this is particularly important for the export of fresh materials, which can not be stored for a long time.
Al-Ain Murad pointed out that the value of re-exported goods from Jordan to Iraq through (transit) amounted to about 1.5 billion dinars annually and pointed out to the dialogues that took place between the governments of the two countries regarding the introduction of Jordanian trucks into Iraqi territory directly and without stopping in (Exchange Square) Trade between the two brotherly countries.
He pointed out that the Amman Chamber of Commerce will address the concerned authorities to find a mechanism to facilitate access to Iraqi investors visa to enter the Kingdom.
He also stressed that the Chamber is ready to provide services from data and inquiries and others to the Anbar Chamber of Commerce to strengthen relations and strategic partnerships linking the two brotherly countries.
He pointed out that Jordan is a commercial gateway to the countries of the region and enjoys a fertile investment environment and seeks to attract investments in various sectors and joint projects, especially with regard to reconstruction in Iraq and Syria.
For his part, Sabti pointed to the great damage caused to Anbar province by the security situation and wars, which led to the closure of all factories and the entry of goods from the markets, especially construction materials and food.
He stressed the readiness of the Iraqi side to receive Jordanian delegations in Anbar province and to inform them of the investment opportunities and trade available in them.
He pointed out that the province of Anbar began to witness security stability and there are many Egyptian trucks that enter daily into Iraqi territory.
