Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi chaired a meeting of the Supreme National Water Committee.
The meeting discussed the impact of the earthquake that hit the country yesterday on the water dams and gave a full study of these effects, where it was stressed that the status of the dams safe and there is no danger to them. The committee was instructed to continue monitoring Darbandakhan dam to ensure the safety of its basic building.
They also discussed the status of water reservoirs and water policy for the next phase, in addition to discussing the irrigation strategy of the agricultural plan.
Water violations were also discussed and the importance of taking further measures to stop them because of their negative impact on water quotas for the rest of the provinces.
