Minister of Planning / Minister of Trade and Dr. Salman Jumaili discussed with German Ambassador in Baghdad Cyril Nun the reality of economic and trade relations between the two countries and means of enhancing them
A statement issued by the Information Office of the Ministry of Planning said that the two sides reviewed during the meeting a number of issues and important files between the two countries, including the mechanisms to take advantage of the German concessional loan granted to Iraq of 500 million euros and what projects can be financed from this loan,
The statement said that Jumaili explained to the German ambassador that the amount of the loan will be allocated to finance service projects through the Fund for the reconstruction of the affected areas, especially in the field of hospital construction and the provision of electricity and other service projects in the liberated provinces
The two sides also discussed the German participation in the forty-fourth session of the Baghdad International Fair. Ambassador Nun confirmed that a group of important German companies will arrive in Baghdad to participate in the exhibition with a large trade and government delegation led by the special envoy of Chancellor Merkel. Adding that Germany views Iraq with interest because it represents a promising investment environment.
