The UN special envoy to Iraq, Georgi Boston, said Monday that Iraqis have an opportunity to return to harmony and achieve peaceful co-existence between components as before.
"The need for reconciliation in Iraq is urgently needed and our role is advisory," Boston said in a statement to Mawazin News. "Iraq is facing the most important challenge in the next phase, which is reconciliation."
"The process of reconciliation must come from within and we have held a series of conferences over the last four months in this framework," he added.
"Millions of Iraqis have been displaced from their homes because of violence and we want them to return because their return to their homeland and the elimination of terrorist groups and organizations guarantee the success of national or community reconciliation."
He continued: "We are our goal to give a voice to the Iraqi youth, the future of Iraq near the young people."
