BAGHDAD / Obelisk: Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights welcomed the response of the Government of Iraq's large-scale protests against corruption and social inequality that swept Baghdad earlier this month. According to a report published by the local media, and pursued "obelisk", at a press conference in Geneva this morning, praised Ravenna Hmdassana, UNHCR spokesperson, the Government's adoption of a package of reforms aimed at advancing the "concrete steps" to strengthen the rule of law, and improving governance and respect human rights. According to reports, several thousand demonstrated against the government of rampant corruption and social inequality, and the deterioration of social services, and the lack of accountability of officials, in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and other cities. And called for the official spokeswoman, we put on the authorities to ensure respect for human rights at the heart of implementation. She said, "We continue to follow developments and our office is ready to continue to support efforts to achieve this end."
