The new Italian ambassador in Baghdad, Bruno Antonio Pasquino, said Tuesday that his country is exerting every effort to increase the volume of investment between the two countries, the maintenance of the Mosul dam and archaeological sites. Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari received a copy of the credentials of Italy's new ambassador to Baghdad.
"The foreign minister received a copy of the credentials of Bruno Antonio Pasquino, Italy's new ambassador to Baghdad. The two sides discussed the most important issues of concern to Baghdad and Rome and joint cooperation in various fields," al-Jaafari's office said in a statement.
"Jaafari expressed the readiness of the Foreign Ministry to provide all services to the diplomatic mission to develop joint work between the two countries," he said.
"The Iraqis have united, faced a world war that targeted all countries, and succeeded in achieving the victories that the world boasts."
For his part, Pasquino counted the victories achieved by Iraq in its war against terrorism historic victories.
Expressing his country's continued support for Iraq and strengthening relations in various fields until the return of security, stability and training of Iraqi forces, noting: We are proud that we are the second largest country supporting Iraq in its war against terrorism.
"We will make every effort to increase the volume of investment between the two countries, and urge Italian companies to work in Iraq and continue to deepen cooperation in the oil, economic and cultural fields, maintenance of the Mosul dam and archaeological sites.
