MP of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Perwan Khilani proposed on Saturday the adoption of the efficiency of parliamentary performance as a criterion in calculating the salary of a member of the House of Representatives, indicating that "many of the higher degrees and bachelor's degrees obtained by most members of parliament through universities not recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education" .
In a press conference today, Khilani called for the attendance of meetings and committee meetings, and to compel deputies to conduct monthly visits or specific weekly visits, receive acceptable numbers of citizens and follow up their problems and needs, a criterion for calculating salary instead of certification.
"The MP is part of the legislative and supervisory authority and therefore has legal, moral and professional obligations to perform his professional and national duty instead of setting the certificate as a standard in the amount of the monthly salary he receives," she said.
She added that "the deputy is the degree of a minister no matter how different his study certificate, and was elected by the people and was not appointed, and therefore is not employed in a government ministry or university until the salary is calculated on the basis of the certificate obtained," indicating that " And the bachelor's degree obtained by most members of parliament through universities not recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, and gave the certificate without study through the so-called distance study, except for illegal ways to obtain certificates.
She continued to say that "the adoption of this standard to oblige MPs to carry out the minimum number of interviews of citizens and follow-up transactions and attend parliamentary sessions and meetings of committees and extensions and conferences and make the salary upward according to its activities."
