The insurance office on Monday called for the need to secure imported goods to Iraq in the national insurance companies, expecting that this will be reflected on the Iraqi economy.
A source within the Diwan said in an interview with the "Economy News" that "the Insurance Bureau called in a document to approach the Ministry of Finance to the necessity of insurance for goods imported from outside Iraq with Iraqi insurance companies exclusively."
He added that "this measure would support the national economy and contribute to prevent the diversion of funds out of Iraq."
Iraq has 35 insurance companies, 3 of them government and the rest are private joint stock companies.
