Minister of Commerce Dr. Mohammad Hashim Al-Ani discussed with Jordanian Minister of Industry Tariq Hamouri ways to overcome the obstacles to increasing trade exchange between the two countries.
This came during a meeting between the two ministers in Baghdad.
"The relations with the Jordanian side have been strong for many years and there is cooperation in all fields in accordance with the bilateral agreement and we have entered into important partnerships with them," he said.
He added that "cooperation with Jordan is continuing to overcome all obstacles to increased trade exchange between the two countries," adding that "the opening of the port of Trebil, contributed to the revival of this exchange."
For his part, Al-Hammouri said that he had "distinguished discussions with the Iraqi Minister of Trade on several topics, including the volume of trade between the two countries and to serve the work of Iraqi businessmen in Jordan."
"We see prosperity on both sides in the private sector and are working to develop it," he said.
He noted that "the Minister of Trade has played a major role in the negotiations between Iraq and Jordan and the development of relations and find a road map for them."
He called on the Jordanian Minister of Industry to "allocate a permanent commercial center to his country in the land of the Baghdad International Fair, to display products and goods to Jordanian companies, as well as his role in signing bilateral agreements and establish partnerships with the Iraqi private sector."
The Minister of Trade, Dr. Mohammad Hashim Al-Ani, accompanied the Jordanian Minister of Industry Tariq Hamouri in the opening of the Jordanian National Day at the Baghdad International Fair 45th session and toured the corridors of the Jordanian pavilion and reviewed the products and goods provided by Jordanian companies participating in the exhibition.
