Minister of Transport, Mr. Kazem Fangan Al-Hamami announced on Sunday the opening of seven bids for new projects in the General Company for Iraqi Ports.
Al-Hamami said that 13 local companies are advanced to win the projects. He said the tenders include rehabilitation, development and management of the fishing harbor in Faw with the construction of a fuel station for fishing boats and a project for holding the cultural center in Al-Maqal area.
He also completed a project to maintain the empty containers in the ports as well as a main gate to the port of Umm Qasr, rehabilitation, development and expansion of the Umm Qasr road, the distance from the headquarters of the Philippine company to the southern port of Umm Qasr, as well as the project of rehabilitation and management of Hjam Island, And yards and equipment in the Iraqi ports.
The ports Iraq is moving forward to qualify and develop all its facilities to be giant companies, which vary in their resources in support of the national economy.
